Renja Schmitt

Owner

Born in Poland, from day 1 in her life, there were dogs in her family. Unfortunately, at that time most people did not train their dog, which meant that the dogs had food aggressions, snapped, and even bit sometimes. But nobody could explain why over all the years none of the dogs ever showed any kind of bad attitude towards Renja.
At the age of 8 years, Renja and her family immigrated to Germany. Though she had to learn the new language, it did not stop her from making great friends right away... all the neighbors dogs. With her passion for dogs, Renja won the trust of the owners in no time, to play with and walk their best friends. Whenever there was a family or sport event (her 2 brothers and dad played soccer), if there was dog near her, she would often miss the whole game or mealtimes, because teaching dogs new tricks and playing with them was always her priority.
At 15 Renja herself realized that dogs were not just her passion, but she also had a special gift to bond with them and win their trust. This was when a family friend got a Rottweiler, and after one year nobody else was able to handle this huge, strong dog. When the owner needed someone to watch him, Renja was the only one who handled this big male (almost 140 lbs.) with a smile on her face.
So, she became a member of a German dog training club. From this time, Renja was always there to help other dog owners to fix problems for a better life with their pets. In 1997 she started professional dog training. Her first dog to be trained was an 8-month-old, 120 lbs. Greater Swiss Mountain dog. From an absolutely untrained dog, that lived only in a kennel, in only 8 weeks, he brought a trophy home for a BH competition. There was no turning back. Renja continued competition training and competed with her own dog a few times every year, with an amazing amount of success.
In 2008 Renja immigrated to the US. After a short time, her directions changed. Seeing all the dogs in the shelters here was shocking to her. Today Renja has 3 rescue dogs and one German Shepherd on her own. Her drive to compete with her own dogs is not a priority anymore. Her calling is to rescue dogs, support animal shelters, help other dog owners become the best dog parents possible, and let them discover the amazing potential of their dog. She specialized in pack behavior and dog psychology, using dogs natural instinct to win their mind.
One of the best rewards for Renja is when she realizes that her training prevented a family from surrendering their dog to a shelter and instead sees them having the best time of their lives together.

 I was born and raised in Germany and after returning to the States I was in complete culture shock. I was so used the way of life there that some of the fast-paced mindsets were difficult to get used to.
 Since I was a little girl, I had always wanted to be a dolphin trainer. I think my first word was Dolphin and anytime I could research them that is precisely what I did. All my papers in school were always on the wonderful, always smiling animal. Then in High School my dreams were crushed after I was involved in a cheerleading accident and was unable to dive anymore.
 After graduation and attending College, I was left with the “what is next?” question. When I returned to the states in 2001, I had no idea what I wanted to do so I just found a job that would support me all while trying to redesign my dream. Well, several years later I met a wonderful lady named Renja, and while that friendship grew, I saw her hard work at making her dreams a reality and she stirred that within myself.
 I didn’t know how or when, but I was going to achieve that too. When she started ACE K-9 Training, I knew I wanted to be a part of it somehow but really didn’t know where I would fit in. I was having some health issues at the time and really was just hard for me to walk much less train. After realizing the dogs were helping me, It grew into knowledge that though I may not be able to train dolphins anymore, there was something else that would allow me to live my dream but with dogs instead.
 I have always had dogs in my life whether it be mine or within the family somewhere. I always loved all of them and would train them to do all the fun tricks to impress my friends. As I started getting more involved with the dogs at ACE K9, I truly realized my dream didn’t get crushed it just got twisted around and little did I know that ACE K9 would become my healing road to recovery.
 I have been with Ace almost three years and am truly blessed that I get to live out a dream all while loving on and training your pups. I am ever grateful for the opportunity and can't wait to see how we grow here at ACE K9.

 Jim Boyd has been with Ace K9 since December of 2021. He has been training dogs since he got a German Shepherd in Berlin, Germany in 1987. Seeing a well behaved dog that is engaged with and obedient to the owner is makes him smile.
 There is a lot more that makes him happy, though! Jim and his wife, Kim, have been married 39 years and have had well behaved and trained dogs from the very beginning. Love of dogs has spread to the rest of his family. Between Jim and Kim, their three married daughter’s, and three grandchildren, there are seven dogs, with three of them belonging to Jim and Kim.
 He never met a dog he didn’t love and he can’t wait to meet yours.
